Update

So, I talked to the kids foster mother today.  Mackenzie (whom we are finding has some clumsy issues from her exposure) fell onto a hot flat iron and wound up with 2nd degree burns on her leg.  Poor thing.  She wound up getting treated at the hospital and is being taken good care of.  I'm so thankful that she has a capable foster mother.  She has been teaching them how to behave in public because our little Dominic seems to think it is perfectly acceptable to walk across the chairs at the hospital.  LOL.  He will be a handful, but we already love our family.

Found out today that there is a preliminary hearing on December 1st 2015 where Bio mom has the right to sign away her parental rights.  If she doesn't choose to do that the custody hearing will still take place December 30 2015.

This has to be a very trying time right now for bio mom but we are in prayer for her.  We still hope she gets better.

We need prayer for God's favor, timing and will to be done.  We want what is best for these kids and know that His ways are not our ways.

Changing family

The purpose of this blog is to keep our friends and family in the loop about what is going on.  We have a lot of changes happening in our family and there is a lot of information to keep up with, so we decided to do this to keep you all in the loop.

September 1, 2015 we found out that we had a situation in our family that needed some attention.  My husband's cousin had found herself with her kids in the care of CPS in Ohio.  September 2, 2015 I talked to their caseworker and found out that not only were the kids in the system, but they had been there for 18 months.  They were not together but living in 2 separate foster homes.  Dan's cousin had 4 children.  The 3 youngest were in the care of one parent and the oldest was in another.

Through not fault of these children, they were in need of mending of their family.  They have been around drug use and domestic violence.  Dan and I decided to move forward to see about getting these children in a safe stable home environment.  We found out that Benjamin age 1 was the youngest.  He had been born drug addicted.  Mackenzie is 4 and was born drug exposed, Dominic is 6 and Zoey is the oldest at 10 years old.  We have prayed and sought wise counsel about being there for these kids.  We started a process called ICPC between the state of Ohio and Texas.

We received the paperwork for our homestudy last week and filled it all out got it back to our ICPC advocate in Texas and then the paperwork was sent off for the homestudy to be done and that was done October 31st 2015.  We are in the period of waiting to see what happens next.

Our homestudy went very well, and we are planning on the kids coming to us as soon as they allow it from Ohio.

There is a custody hearing December 30 and 31st to have the parental rights terminated.

Here is where we need some help.  We NEED lots of love, support and prayer.  These kids need prayer.  They have an amazing foster parent who has kept us in the loop as to the happenings in Ohio.  Besides the obvious trauma these kids have been in.  They are in for a whole change in their lives.

We will try to use this blog to answer any questions that you guys may have.  We are trying to keep as much off social media as possible, but it is starting to get overwhelming answering all the questions.  God has been really moving in our family this last 2 months and we can see everything that has been lining up for the last 6 years.  Thank you for loving us and as we have more we will keep you guys updated.
